Poverello Community Conversation
NCBI’s role is to engage the Missoula community in meaningful dialogue with the Poverello Center and the City of Missoula in identifying criteria for a new facility. We are facilitating a four step process:
Step 1) talk to key stakeholders about their concerns- that’s what is happening now.
Step 2) an open community meeting with anyone who wants to weigh in. That will be August 10th- the goals for that session are to a) provide the community clear information regarding the Poverello’s need for and requirements in a new facility, b) provide the Poverello Center clear information regarding community concerns for a new facility – ultimately establishing a shared criteria for a new facility.
Step 3) establish a workgroup including the Poverello Center, the City of Missoula, residential and business neighbors to identify strategies to address concerns and use the shared criteria to vet potential new locations.
Step 4) facilitate a second community meeting for workgroup to share finding and get additional feedback. This meeting will take plae on Wednesday, September 7 from 6-9 pm. The location is to be determined and will be updated as soon as possible. Free childcare will be provided.
The Poverello Center is ultimately responsible for developing and maintaining and new center and recognizes the importance of understanding community members' points of view. This process will ensure that everyone who contributes will know that their concerns were heard and and taken into consideration.
