2012 Missoula MLK Jr. Day Celebration
Please join us in commemorating Dr. King's legacy at this annual, family friendly event! This year’s theme and focus is Economic Justice.
5:00 PM - Rally at Caras park featuring speeches by:
· Tom Power, economist and Pulitzer Prize nominee
· Debby Florence, regarding Occupy Missoula
5:40 PM – March for Economic Justice
· The march will start at Caras park, cross the Higgins Street bridge and end at St. Paul Lutheran Church (202 Brooks St.).
· Glowsticks provided, feel free to bring signs promoting the need for economic justice for all
6:00 PM – Community Commemoration at St. Paul Lutheran Church
· Keynote speech by Dr. Ralph Stone, Pulitzer Prize nominated historian active in anti-war, civil rights and economic justice movements since the 1960’s.
· Music by Amy Martin with the F.R.O.G.S choir and Coyote youth choir and Eden Atwood
· Presentation of the Youth Art and Essay Awards
*Child Care provided during this time
7:00 PM – Community Social at St. Paul Lutheran Church
· Food provided; donations accepted

NCBI Trainer Applies Her Skills to Inspire the Community
High school student and NCBI trainer, Ekoo Beck, went above and beyond to train the youth and teach them skills to make safer school environments throughout Missoula. With the help of NCBI Missoula, America’s Promise Alliance and AT&T, Ekoo started Inspire To Lead, a project focusing on teaching prejudice reduction and violence prevention to Missoula youth in various ways.
